August 5 - Toodyay International Food Festival

Come and celebrate the 2017 Avon Descent at the thirteenth annual Toodyay International Food Festival. August 6 - Avon Descent Family Fun Day

First held in 1973, the Avon Descent is Western Australia's own unique sporting event. Avon Descenters challenge the Avon and Swan rivers in a variety of paddle and power craft in an exciting two-day time trial over 124 gruelling kilometres. The Avon Descent Family Fun Days are a series of family-orientated events held annually on the first weekend of August alongside the race and are a perfect opportunity for family and friends to get outdoors and experience the excitement of the race. Cheer on the Avon Descent competitors as they head towards the finish line of this exciting white water race. Includes expert race commentary and activities for the whole family. August 12 - Taste of the Blackwood Festival

Visit the Annual Taste of the Blackwood Festival and please your palate at this delicious culinary event, which is a celebration of the Blackwood Valley Region’s culture, fine food and award winning wines. August 26 to 27 - Balingup Medieval Carnivale

As the last locally-based show in the Perth metropolitan area with a continuing agricultural tradition, the show remains strongly connected with farming community between the Swan View and Mundaring. Just 35 minutes from the city, it is a great place to bring children, and as a family event it is packed with to get to come and see cattle, sheep and poultry plus Clydesdale horses, and ferrets as well! The Show is organised by the Swan View and Districts Agricultural and Arts Society, a membership-based not-for-profit group open to anyone with an interest in the Society's objective of making sure the Swan View Show remains one of the best local shows in Western Australia.
