Truffle Kerfuffle Southern Forests Food Festival celebrates the start of the truffle season and the very best produce the region has to offer. From its initial beginnings in 2011, Truffle Kerfuffle has grown into a highlight of the Australian tourism calendar. This winter festival has a hands on and adventurous atmosphere, with truffle hunters in search of prized truffles, truffle dog demonstrations, local markets and masterclasses with locally and nationally celebrated chefs. July 6 - Mowanjum Festival

Mowanjum Art and Culture Centre - Gibb River Road, Mojanjum WA

Experience the unique art and culture of the Worrorra, Ngarinyin, Wunumbal and Mirriwoong Gajerrong peoples of the Kimberley, in this family friendly one day and one night event. This year the festival will include workshops during the day for adults and children, where skills like didgeridoo playing and dance totem making can be learnt. Highlights of the night will include traditional corroborees from Mowanjum and Gibb River Road communities, as well as those from the Fitzroy Valley. First held in 1973, the Avon Descent is Western Australia's own unique sporting event. Avon Descenters challenge the Avon and Swan rivers in a variety of paddle and power craft in an exciting two-day time trial over 124 gruelling kilometres. The Avon Descent Family Fun Days are a series of family-orientated events held annually on the first weekend of August alongside the race and are a perfect opportunity for family and friends to get outdoors and experience the excitement of the race. As the last locally-based show in the Perth metropolitan area with a continuing agricultural tradition, the show remains strongly connected with farming community between the Swan View and Mundaring. Just 35 minutes from the city, it is a great place to bring children, and as a family event it is packed with to get to come and see cattle, sheep and poultry plus Clydesdale horses, and ferrets as well! The Show is organised by the Swan View and Districts Agricultural and Arts Society, a membership-based not-for-profit group open to anyone with an interest in the Society's objective of making sure the Swan View Show remains one of the best local shows in Western Australia.
